Last evening, each of our elementary schools hosted a Title I Night called the Amazing Reading Race! Students read clues with their families and raced around the building to find teachers that shared about the five pillars of literacy. Families also got materials to practice and take home to continue practicing reading skills at home. The partnership between teachers, students, and families are game changing for student success!

Congratulations to Sam Newhard, Hendry Park's Teacher of the Year! Her dedication, enthusiasm, and passion for learning are truly appreciated and make her an invaluable asset to our school!

Hendry Park students spent a morning learning about Angola's History. The 1st grade classes began by meeting Carolyn Powers in the Media Center where they enjoyed a story about Sojourner Truth. Students then bundled up in their coats, hats, and gloves for their walk to the mound. At the mound, they gathered on the front steps of the old courthouse where Louann Holman entertained them with stories about the statues. They discovered interesting facts about Sojourner Truth and our Soldiers' Monument that they're excited to share with their families tonight. #SmallCommunityBigOpportunities #AngolaIn

Do you have a child that will be entering Kindergarten next school year?? If the answer is yes come to the Angola High School Gym today, door #21, today, NOW through 7 pm and our amazing staff will get your student ready to go. Please bring birth certificate, proof of residency and immunization.

Hendry Park 1st graders learned all about how maple syrup is made during our field trip to Maple Wood Nature Center in LaGrange. After a beautiful walk in the woods to see how they collect the sap, we went into the sugar shack to see how they turn that into syrup. We then heard a Native American legend, got to taste the syrup, and had a picnic lunch!
